KNF fails to rob money from Sonali Bank's Ruma branch: CID

Members of armed group Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) did not rob any money from the Sonali Bank branch in Bandarban's Ruma.

"Two teams from the Chattogram and Cox's Bazar units of CID inspected the vault and confirmed its integrity. A total of Tk1.59 crore, which had been stored in the vault, was found unharmed," said Chattogram Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Special Superintendent of Police Shahnewaz Khaled on Wednesday (3 April).

He also mentioned that two keys are required to open the vault. However, the armed group was unable to access it.

Furthermore, the abducted bank manager, Nizam Uddin, has not been traced yet.

On Wednesday (April 3), a robbery occurred at Sonali Bank and Krishi Bank branches in Thanchi Thana, Bandarban. Following the incidents, six branches of Sonali Bank in the upazila have been temporarily closed.
