Two members of the Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) were killed in an encounter with army-led joint forces in Ruma upazila in Bandarban in the early hours of Sunday (April 28).
Two more people were arrested during the clash, which took place in the Baktlai area of Remakri Prangsa union, said police.
The deceased are believed to be members of the Kuki Chin National Front (KNF) as they were wearing KNF uniforms, said the police, adding that the identities of the duo could not be ascertained yet.
A six-hour-long clash between the army and the KNF started after 12 midnight in the area. Joint forces led by the army are conducting searches there, with a tense situation prevailing in the area.
The bodies have been kept at Bandarban Sadar Hospital morgue.
A joint force led by the army initiated a crackdown in Bandarban, following several incidents of bank robberies and the snatching of weapons from law enforcers in Ruma and Thanchi upazila on April 2-3. The 'Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF)' is alleged to be involved in those incidents.
