The interim government has directed that departmental action be taken against public officials widely perceived by the public as corrupt, based on intelligence reports.
Ministry of Public Administration recently issued this directive.
The letter was made public on Sunday (23 March).
According to the directive, the decision was taken following recommendations from the Committee on Public Administration Affairs.
The letter was sent to senior secretaries, secretaries of ministries and divisions, director generals, executive directors, managing directors, chairpersons of public offices, divisional commissioners, and district commissioners.
To advise on appointments, transfers, and disciplinary matters concerning divisional commissioners, district commissioners, joint secretaries, and higher-ranking officials, the interim government formed the Public Administration Affairs Committee on 8 January, chaired by Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed.
The directive was issued following the committee’s second meeting on 20 February.
The letter states that officials and employees working in ministries, divisions, and subordinate offices, who are widely perceived as corrupt by the public, should be subjected to departmental action based on intelligence reports.
