Actress Nasrin Akhtar Nipun, also the former general secretary of the Bangladesh Film Artistes’ Association, was released following an interrogation.
On Friday morning (10 January), she was taken-off from Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG-201 bound for the United Kingdom at Sylhet Osmani International Airport by immigration police.
A senior intelligence officer at the Sylhet airport confirmed the incident, stating that immigration police acted upon objections raised by the National Intelligence Agency.
The officer said, "At around 9:20am, while attempting to board the flight to London, Nasrin Akhtar Nipun was offloaded and sent back. She has not been detained or arrested as of now."
Following the fall of the Awami League government, many pro-Awami League celebrities in the showbiz industry have gone into hiding.
There was uncertainty among many regarding whether Nasrin Akhtar Nipun was residing in the country or in London.
