Islami Chhatra Shibir had both direct and indirect involvement in the 2024 mass uprising, Sarjis Alam, general secretary of the July Shaheed Smriti Foundation, stated on Tuesday (31 December) during a speech at the Islami Chhatra Shibir Central Member Conference 2024, held at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital.

Delivering his address as a special guest, Sarjis began by saluting those present who had participated in the movement. "Revolutionary salute to the comrades in the '24 movement who are in front of me. As we have planned together before, we will move forward in the future as well. We will resist those who become obstacles in our country like Sheikh Hasina as fascism," he proclaimed to the gathering.

Sarjis accused Sheikh Hasina's government of silencing opposition voices through violence and repression.

He alleged that during her tenure, dissenters were targeted under the pretext of accusations.

"In the past, the murderous dictatorship of Sheikh Hasina killed and disappeared anyone who was considered a threat through the blame game. We have expelled the murderer Hasina from this country," he declared.

Addressing members of Islami Chhatra Shibir, Sarjis emphasised the importance of prioritising national interests above personal or organisational agendas. "You, Shibir, move forward through your work. The advice I give to Shibir is—'Think about the people of the country before individuals, groups, and parties on any issue in the country,'" he urged.

The conference witnessed enthusiastic participation, marking a moment of reflection on the political shifts in the nation following the 2024 uprising.
