Awami League faces no obstacles to participating in the upcoming election, stated Badiul Alam Majumdar, head of the Election Reform Commission, while ensuring that no political parties would be hindered in their efforts to make the election a celebratory event.

Speaking to journalists on Thursday (19 December), following an open discussion at the Rangpur Deputy Commissioner's Office, Majumdar highlighted the involvement of local administration, political parties, and civil society in deliberations aimed at election system reforms.

Majumdar remarked, "In the past, elections held under partisan governments prevented the Election Commission from functioning neutrally. This time, electoral officials will operate free from any influence, ensuring a free, fair, and impartial election."

When asked whether the Awami League would participate in the forthcoming elections, Majumdar responded, "Like you, we are also waiting to see. However, I see no obstacles for them. I do not observe any measures that could obstruct their participation. We aspire for an inclusive election where all prepared parties can contest. No impediments will be placed in their path. I hope all parties will take part in the elections."

Majumdar further informed that, following discussions with all political parties and stakeholders, a set of reform proposals would be submitted to Chief Advisor Dr Muhammad Yunus by 31 December.
