Police dispersed a group of protesters who had gathered in front of the Prothom Alo office in the Karwan Bazar area of Dhaka on Sunday. The protesters, who were expressing their opposition to the newspaper, accused it of promoting Indian hegemony.
As part of their protest, the demonstrators had planned to slaughter a cow and distribute the meat to the participants. The situation escalated when law enforcement used tear gas, sound grenades, and baton charges to disperse the protest.
A video of the incident captured a brief scuffle between the officers and some of the protesters.
The identities of the protesters have not yet been revealed.
