Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus exchanged greetings with former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia at the Armed Forces Day reception held at Senakunja in Dhaka Cantonment on Wednesday (21 November).
This marked Khaleda Zia’s first public appearance and participation in a state function in six years, following her imprisonment in February 2018. The last time she attended the Armed Forces Day reception was in 2012.
The 79-year-old BNP Chairperson, accompanied by the wife of her late son Arafat Rahman Koko, departed her Gulshan residence at approximately 3:30 p.m. and arrived at the venue by 3:45 p.m.
The invitation for Khaleda Zia to attend the event was extended by the Armed Forces Division of the Chief Adviser’s Office on Tuesday night. As a three-time former Prime Minister, her presence added a significant dimension to the reception, which commemorated the contributions of Bangladesh’s Armed Forces.
