The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has withdrawn the existing import duty and regulatory duty on onion import for keeping the price of onion within the affordability and tolerable level of the common people.
To this end, the NBR has issued an SRO.
According to the SRO, the total duty has been reduced from 10 percent to 0 percent.
NBR believes that the move will increase the supply of onion in the market and the price of onion will be within the affordability of common people.
