Republican candidate Donald Trump has declared his recent victory as a "spectacular triumph."
Speaking to his supporters and the press on Wednesday (6 November), Trump characterised the win as a monumental achievement, symbolising what he believes will usher in a new golden era for America.
Describing his optimism for the future, Trump confidently asserted that this victory would mark the beginning of an unprecedented "American golden age."
His comments have been met with both strong support from his base and scepticism from political opponents, reflecting the intense debate over the direction his leadership will take.
Republican Donald Trump has claimed victory in the 2024 presidential contest after Fox News projected that he had defeated Democrat Kamala Harris, which would cap a stunning political comeback four years after he left the White House.
"America has given us an unprecedented and powerful mandate," he said early on Wednesday to a roaring crowd of supporters at the Palm Beach County Convention Center.
He promised that he would “not rest until we have delivered the strong safe and prosperous America”.
“Every single day,” Trump said, “I will be fighting for you with every breath in my body.”
