The process of extradition of ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina will begin once she is convicted in court, said Chief Adviser’s Deputy Press Secretary Apurba Jahangir.
Apurba was briefing media at Foreign Service Academy in the city on Wednesday (30 October) evening.
“…there are cases against her (Sheikh Hasina). The process of returning her home will begin after the court verdict,” he said.
Apurba said it is possible to bring Hasina back to the country as Bangladesh has an extradition treaty with India.
A search committee has been formed to constitute a new Election Commission (EC), said Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam while responding to queries.
The gazette in this regard would be published within a day or two, he added.
On Tuesday, the government formed the search committee, headed by Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury, a judge of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, to constitute a new EC.
