United Nations (UN) High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk has arrived in Dhaka on Monday (28 October) on a two-day official visit.
The US diplomat is set to hold a number of meetings with top government officials and civil society representatives.
During the visit, the high commissioner is scheduled to meet with Chief Adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus, said a press release of the UN Resident Coordinator office in Dhaka on Monday.
The UN HR chief will also sit with a number of advisers for different ministries, the chief justice, the army chief and the heads of several reform commissions.
Türk will meet with the Dhaka University students involved in the recent protest movement. He will also make an address at Dhaka University.
The US diplomat will have meetings with UN agencies and members of diplomatic missions in Bangladesh as well.
At the end of his mission, the high commissioner will hold a press conference in Dhaka on Wednesday afternoon.
