Marina Khatun, a 35-year-old resident of Shrirampur village in Badalgachi upazila of Naogaon, has given birth to five babies at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH).

The delivery, which took place via cesarean section on Wednesday, September 11, was a surprise as Marina and her family were initially expecting only three children.

Marina, who is currently under care in Ward 26 of the hospital, is reported to be in good health along with her quintuplets. Her husband, Abdul Majid, is a Malaysian expatriate.

Marina's uncle, Nayan Babu, explained that they were aware of the possibility of having three babies and had arranged for five female attendants at the hospital in anticipation. On Tuesday, Marina experienced labor pains, and the family transported her from Naogaon to Islamic Bank Medical College Hospital in Rajshahi. Following consultations, the doctors recommended transferring her to RMCH.

At around 11 AM on Wednesday, Marina underwent surgery, resulting in the birth of five healthy babies. The news quickly spread, and at least 15 relatives arrived to offer support and care for the family.

Dr. Rokeya Khatun, head of the Obstetrics and Gynecology department at RMCH, reported that the quintuplets’ weights are as follows- one weighs 1 kg, two weigh 1.3 kg each, and the remaining two weigh 1.2 kg each. She confirmed that both Marina and her newborns are currently in stable condition.
