Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam announced that the national election could be held by December this year if political parties do not demand extensive reforms. However, if major reforms are needed, an additional six months may be required to prepare for the election.
Speaking to journalists at the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB) on Tuesday, Shafiqul Alam outlined the government's roadmap for ensuring a stable democratic process. "The interim government has presented a roadmap that has generated a sense of public aspiration among the people," he said.
He also highlighted the interim government's progress in stabilizing the country. "We have brought the country to a stable state. While foreign reserves were expected to be around $20 billion, they now stand at $22 billion, showing our recovery efforts are paying off," he added.
