BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has urged the interim government to arrange the national election promptly after implementing essential reforms to ensure a fair and democratic electoral process.
Speaking at a programme held at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB), in Dhaka on Saturday, Fakhrul emphasised the need for a restructured electoral system and administrative framework to meet the aspirations of the people for a democratic country.
"I hope they will arrange a national election soon after reforming the electoral system, administration, law enforcement agencies, and judiciary," he said.
Fakhrul underlined that the people's primary aspiration is to establish a truly democratic nation. "To fulfill this desire, the government must address and remove existing barriers to achieving this goal. Delays will only create further complications," he warned.
He also stressed the interim government's fundamental responsibility to create a conducive environment for a fair election, adding, "Establishing a proper framework for the election is a duty that cannot be neglected."
