Addressing the interim government, BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas stressed the need for transparency in electoral proceedings, urging the administration to explicitly clarify the election date for the nation.
He delivered these remarks on Tuesday (5 November), at a memorial event held at the Dhaka Reporters’ Unity in honour of Bir Muktijoddha Mesbah Uddin Ahmed’s 21st death anniversary.
In his speech, Abbas quoted BNP founder Ziaur Rahman, who had famously declared that no development could be achieved by dividing the nation.
“We reiterate that a divided nation cannot foster development,” he remarked, highlighting his party’s stance against divisive politics.
Mirza Abbas expressed concerns over the current state of the country, describing the situation as "murky" and cautioning that it could worsen.
"I believe this government should work to improve the situation," he said, adding, "We want to believe that you will not act in a manner that erodes the nation’s trust."
The event, organised by the Muktijoddha Projonmo Parishad and chaired by its Senior Vice President Zahurul Islam Kalim, was attended by BNP Standing Committee member Goyeshwar Chandra Roy as the chief guest, along with BNP Joint Secretary General Abdus Salam Azad, Projonmo Academy President Kalam Foyez, and various leaders and activists from BNP Dhaka Metropolitan Unit.
