Khaleda Zia is under intensive observation at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka with her condition being very unwell, BNP Standing Committee Member Mirza Abbas said on Monday (17 June).

The BNP leader said this after offering Eid-ul-Azha prayers and paying tribute to the mausoleum of BNP founder Ziaur Rahman in Chandrima Udyan, Dhaka.

Mirza Abbas said, "We appeal to the people of the country to pray for Begum Khaleda Zia. We hope she recovers soon. Khaleda Zia herself has asked for prayers."

He added, "Many BNP leaders and activists are in jail, and many are forced to live on the streets out of fear of the police. We can do nothing but express our sympathy for them."

He said the word 'Eid' means happiness, but there is no joy in the hearts of ordinary people in Bangladesh. "The true joy of Eid was during Khaleda Zia's tenure," he added.
