On 25 April 1990, the space shuttle Discovery successfully deployed the Hubble Space Telescope into low Earth orbit, marking a major milestone in astronomical science.
The $1.5 billion observatory, capable of capturing images of distant galaxies and nebulas with unprecedented clarity, was launched by NASA and the European Space Agency.
Despite early issues with its primary mirror, later corrected by a servicing mission, Hubble went on to revolutionise humanity’s understanding of the universe.
