After several days of sweltering heat, the capital city of Dhaka experienced light drizzle bringing some respite to city dwellers.

Despite the overcast sky since dawn, light rain began at various locations around 7:30am on Tuesday (30 July).

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said more rain is likely in the coming days.

The slight drop in temperature compared to the previous day made the night weather more pleasant.

However, while the rain brought relief, it also caused inconvenience to residents who ventured outside for work.

Many sought shelter under nearby awnings to escape the rain, while others walked with umbrellas to their destinations.

A weather update bulletin by the BMD stated that districts including Jashore, Khulna, Dhaka, Faridpur, Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, and Cox's Bazar might experience temporary gusty or squally winds from the south or southeast at speeds of 45-60 km/h, accompanied by rain or thunderstorms.

River ports in these areas have been advised to display cautionary signal number 1.

Additionally, another weather bulletin indicated that the monsoon is moderately active over Bangladesh and moderate over the northern Bay of Bengal. Under these conditions, thunderstorms are forecasted across all divisions of the country until Thursday (1 August).

During this period, some areas might experience moderate to heavy rainfall.

Over the next 5 days, rainfall is expected to increase across all divisions, BMD added.
