On July 14, 1923, the Hollywood Sign was officially dedicated in the hills above Los Angeles, marking the birth of an iconic symbol.

Originally reading "Hollywoodland," the sign was intended to advertise a real estate development.

However, it quickly came to embody the glitz and glamour of the burgeoning film industry.

The sign's transformation began in 1949 when the last four letters were removed, simplifying it to the now-famous "Hollywood."

This change cemented its status as an emblem of the entertainment world, capturing the aspirations and dreams of countless stars and movie enthusiasts worldwide.
