The Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) has increased the price of 22-carat gold by Tk1,609 per bhori, setting the new price at Tk1,18,891.
This change will be effective from Monday (8 July), BAJUS announced in a press release this evening (7 July).

According to the new rates, 21-carat gold is now Tk 1,13,491 per bhori, 18-carat gold is Tk 97,278 per bhori, and traditional method gold is Tk 80,423 per bhori.

The adjustment is due to an increase in the price of pure gold in the local market, BAJUS said.

A government-imposed VAT of 5 percent and a Bajus-mandated minimum wage of 6 percent must be added to the selling price of gold. However, the wage may vary depending on the design and quality of the jewellery, said the statement.
