Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam has announced a Tk1,000 incentive for people who bring their animals for sacrifice to a field next to Paris Road in Mirpur.
"DNCC will pay Tk 1,000 as an incentive for each cow that is sacrificed here," said Mayor Atiqul Islam while visiting the sacrificial animal market in Mohammadpur's Bosila in the capital on Saturday (15 June).
The mayor expects that at least 500 sacrificial cows will be brought to the field adjacent to Paris Road of DNCC.
Atiqul Islam said, “Over 10,000 sanitation workers will be deployed this year to manage the cleanup of sacrificial animal waste within six hours. Formal waste disposal will begin at 2:00 pm and continue until 8:00 pm on Eid day.”
All DNCC councilors, officials and the mayor himself will also be in the field.
He mentioned that a control room has been set up for monitoring. Additionally, ward-level monitoring teams have been formed, and anyone can contact DNCC through a hotline number.
He further stated that cow dung will be collected from various animal markets and used for tree planting.
"We have already commenced extensive tree planting activities at DNCC. The dung from the sacrificial animal market will be collected and utilized for tree planting," the mayor explained.
