No shops will be allowed in the residential buildings’ car parking spaces, Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Md Atiqul Islam said on Wednesday.
The shops built illegally in the parking lot of the residential buildings must be stopped and the spaces must be used for car parking, he said.
He said while inaugurating a tree plantation programme on the occasion of World Environment Day on Wednesday on the Gulshan-Badda link road.
"Parking is shown in many buildings during design approval from Rajuk. Later, it is seen that the places were rented for shops," he added
"DNCC will start the eviction drive against these illegal shops in collaboration with Rajuk after Eid," said the mayor.
The mayor said, "We have to love this city. You should be aware that the city roads, canals, and drains are not dirty. The tree in front of the house should be cared for. We see that everyone sweeps properly when they open the shop in the morning. But with a broom, they throw the dirt on the road. It's not right."
At that time, Atiq requested shop owners to keep a dustbin in front of the shops and keep the streets and sidewalks in front of the shops clean.
A total of 5000 trees will be planted in the Gulshan area under this tree plantation program in the joint initiative of DNCC, Gulshan Society and City Bank.
