CCTV footage has emerged showing two suspects leaving an apartment in Kolkata's New Town, linked to the gruesome murder of Bangladesh MP Anwarul Azim Anar, reports NDTV.

The footage, obtained by police, shows two men exiting the apartment. One carries a large suitcase, while the other holds several plastic bags. Inside the apartment, police found blood stains, leading to a chilling discovery.

Anar, who had been missing since 14 May, was reportedly skinned and dismembered in the apartment. His body parts were then scattered across the city.

Police have arrested Jihad Hawladar, an illegal immigrant from Bangladesh, in connection with the murder.

Hawladar allegedly confessed to the crime, revealing the macabre details of how Anar was killed, skinned, and his remains disposed of.

Hawladar claimed he was hired by Akhtaruzzaman, a US citizen of Bangladeshi origin. According to the confession, Akhtaruzzaman hired Hawladar, a butcher by profession, for his skills in skinning.

Another CCTV video shows Anar entering the flat with a woman, prompting police to investigate a possible honey-trap scenario.

Authorities suspect Shilasti Rahman, believed to be acquainted with one of the killers, may have lured Anar to the flat.

"The investigation indicates the MP fell into a 'honey trap'," a Kolkata police officer said. "We suspect he was murdered soon after he went to the flat."

Anar, a three-time MP in Bangladesh, arrived in Kolkata on 12 May for medical treatment. He initially stayed with a friend, Gopal Biswas, in Baranagar.

On 14 May, Anar left Biswas's residence, stating he would return later that day. However, he never came back, and his mobile phone was switched off.

The investigation continues as police search for additional suspects and motives behind the brutal murder.
