Only 42% of development programs executed in nine months

A review of the report published on Tuesday revealed that the project implementing agencies will have to ensure works for around Tk146,779.19 crore in the next three months of the fiscal to implement full amount of the Revised ADP (ADP).

All of the ministries and divisions of the government spent Tk1,07,612 crore in the first nine months of the current fiscal year to implement Annual Development Programme (ADP) which is only 42.30% of the revised ADP worth Tk2,54,391.64 crore, revealed a report of the Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED) of the Planning Ministry.

A review of the report published on Tuesday revealed that the project implementing agencies will have to ensure works for around Tk1,46,779.19 crore in the next three months of the fiscal to implement full amount of the Revised ADP (ADP).

Experts and economists said huge amount of development expenditure will not be possible to ensure quality. They also opined that it could be a huge waste of government funds, if the money is released in haste.

IMED data shows that the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has implemented the highest 96.85% of allocation, spending Tk5.99 crore in nine months from an allocation of Tk6.19 crore for a single project.

The Local Government Division spent highest amount Tk19,773.46 crore in nine months which is 46.03% of allocation worth Tk42,956.71 crore for 263 ongoing projects.

The Power Division spent Tk19,202.59 crore in July March period, which is 63.87% of allocation for the division.

The Road Transport and Highways Division (RTHD) implemented 40.19% of RADP in nine months, spending Tk11,173 crore from allocation of Tk27,803.19 crore. The Ministry of Water Resources has an allocation of Tk13,117.62 crore and spent Tk7,081.53 crore, 53.98% of the allocation.
