Rain or thundershowers are likely across the country, including Dhaka, with daytime and night-time temperatures expected to fall, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

In a bulletin issued at 9am on Monday, the BMD forecast rain or thundershowers accompanied by lightning flashes and temporary gusty winds at a few locations across the Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions over the next 24 hours.

The Met Office added that daytime temperatures may drop by 1°C to 2°C, while night-time temperatures are expected to decline slightly.

During this period, skies are forecast to remain partly cloudy to cloudy.

Meanwhile, a mild heat wave sweeping over Gopalganj, Pabna, Sirajganj, Jashore, and Patuakhali districts may abate.

The BMD also noted the presence of an extended low-pressure area stretching from West Bengal across the southwestern part of Bangladesh to the North Bay.

On Sunday, Jashore recorded the country’s highest temperature at 37.4 degrees Celsius, while Rangpur experienced the lowest at 19 degrees Celsius.

Additionally, Dimla in Rangpur registered the highest rainfall at 86 millimetres over the past 24 hours.
