Professor M Aminul Islam, the special assistant to the chief adviser with the rank of a state minister, has resigned from his position.

On Monday (10 March), he submitted his resignation letter to the cabinet secretary, according to a report by UNB.

Confirming the development to the media, Aminul Islam stated, "The Chief Adviser’s Office had been repeatedly urging me to step down. Consequently, at around 2pm today, I sent my resignation letter to the cabinet secretary through my personal assistant."

Last Wednesday, Professor Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar took the oath as an adviser and was assigned to oversee the education ministry.

Until now, Professor Wahiduddin Mahmud had been overseeing both the education and planning ministries; he will now continue solely with the planning ministry.

Earlier in November, the Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus had appointed three special assistants with the rank of state ministers to assist the advisers of the home, health, and education ministries.
