Elon Musk-led social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, experienced a global outage for the second time, affecting numerous users worldwide.
According to DownDetector, which tracks tech outages, at least 2,028 complaints regarding X’s service disruptions were recorded by 3:20 PM. Users reported issues such as pages failing to load and timelines not refreshing. However, services resumed shortly after.
In the US, over 21,000 users reported difficulties accessing X, while more than 10,800 complaints were recorded in the UK. DownDetector’s data is based on user-submitted reports, meaning the actual number of affected users may vary.
Elon Musk, who acquired Twitter in 2022, rebranded it as X, replacing the platform’s iconic blue bird logo with a white "X" on a black background. The terms "tweets" and "retweets" were also changed to "posts" and "reposts," respectively, though the domain name “twitter.com” remains unchanged.
Meanwhile, reports indicate that X is in discussions with investors to raise new funds, valuing the platform at $44 billion—the same amount Musk paid for it in 2022.
According to Bloomberg News, the financing round is still under negotiation, with details subject to change. This potential investment suggests a shift in the company’s trajectory, following challenges that led to a decline in advertisers and users.
