The Bangladesh Army has uncovered a secret hideout belonging to the United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) (main) during an operation in Kaukhali, Rangamati, seizing ammunition, communication devices, and other equipment.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) shared the update in a press release issued on Friday (7 March).

The operation, conducted early this morning based on specific intelligence, targeted a regional armed group of UPDF (Main). According to the ISPR, "During the operation, an army patrol discovered a secret hideout of a UPDF (Main) group. Sensing the presence of army personnel, the miscreants quickly fled the scene."

A search of the hideout led to the recovery of 17 pistol rounds, a pair of binoculars, a walkie-talkie, a hard disk, uniforms, extortion receipts, and other items.

The ISPR further reported that UPDF (Main) attempted to obstruct the operation by mobilising a group of tribal women to stage protests and reclaim the confiscated items. "Despite such provocative actions, the army exercised utmost patience and professionalism, successfully bringing the situation under control," the statement read.

In its release, the ISPR also mentioned that law enforcement agencies from a neighboring country had recently intercepted several consignments of arms and ammunition belonging to various armed groups in the hill tracts, which was reported in the media.

The ISPR stated, "The army will continue its operations against all regional armed groups who threaten peace in the hill tracts and pose a risk to national sovereignty."
