Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has been invited by Pope Francis to attend the World Meeting on Human Fraternity, scheduled for 12-13 September 2025, in Vatican City.
The invitation was personally delivered by General Secretary of the Vatican’s Fondazione Fratelli Tutt Father Francesco Occhetta, during a meeting with Professor Yunus at the State Guest House Jamuna in Dhaka on Thursday.
Expressing admiration for the Nobel Laureate’s global impact, Occhetta remarked, “You are a top leader; you’re a sensational figure.”
The World Meeting on Human Fraternity is expected to be a landmark event, bringing together world leaders, dignitaries, and intellectuals to foster unity, peace, and social justice.
A key focus will be the drafting of the Tables of Humanity, a foundational document outlining universal principles for peaceful coexistence, shaping a New Human Charter in line with Pope Francis’s vision for a more inclusive and compassionate world.
A massive gathering is set to take place at St. Peter’s Square, marking one of the largest events in recent history. The program will include a global concert, high-level discussions, and multimedia presentations, reaffirming the commitment to human fraternity.
During their conversation, Professor Yunus inquired about Pope Francis’s well-being and conveyed his regards, stating, “He is a wonderful human.” In response, Occhetta emphasized the Vatican’s deep appreciation for Bangladesh, saying, “We didn’t come here just to invite you, but also to show our support, care, and love for Bangladesh.”
Professor Yunus expressed his gratitude for the invitation and shared his excitement about the event, saying, “I’m looking forward to it.”
The Vatican’s recognition of Professor Yunus’s Three Zero Principles—zero poverty, zero unemployment, and zero net carbon emissions—further underscores his transformative leadership and commitment to a more just and sustainable world.
