Seven eminent individuals have been named as recipients of the Independence Award 2025, the nation’s highest civilian honour, in recognition of their outstanding and meritorious contributions.
This year’s awardees include MAG Osmani, revered for his role in the Liberation War; pop icon Azam Khan, known as the pioneer of Bangladeshi rock music; writer and political thinker Badruddin Umar; visionary development leader Fazle Hasan Abed; sculptor and modern art trailblazer Novera Ahmed; renowned poet Al Mahmud; and Abrar Fahad, whose tragic demise sparked a nationwide movement against injustice.
The Independence Award, conferred annually, acknowledges individuals who have made remarkable contributions in their respective fields, shaping the nation’s history and cultural landscape.
