Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki today said the government is fully committed to freedom of expression and writing.
"There is no question of censorship on the publishing of books as the government is fully committed to freedom of expression and writing," a PID press release said quoting the adviser.
Since yesterday, news is being published referring to a police officer that the police or Bangla Academy may examine the manuscripts of books before publishing those, but "our clear statement on this matter is that there is no question of examining manuscripts by the police or anyone else before publishing," he said.
An explanation has been sought from the police officer concerned whose quote was published in various newspapers, Farooki added.
Noting that the interim government stands on the spirit of July, he said one of the characteristics of this spirit is freedom of expression.
