Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has said the Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2025 has been reimagined with the spirit of July.
He made the comment while speaking as chief guest at by the Bangla Academy premises on Saturday (1 February).
The fair's theme, "July Uprising: Building a New Bangladesh," reflects a renewed commitment to cultural and national progress.
Dr Ybunus handed over the prestigious Bangla Academy Literary Award 2024 to seven distinguished writers.
Highlighting the theme, Dr. Yunus said, "This year's book fair has been reimagined with the spirit of July. Ekushey represents the essence of our identity, a call to awaken, and the bonds that unite us. The legacy of Ekushey continues to inspire generations, as exemplified by the July Uprising."
Cultural Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, attending as a special guest, emphasized the opportunities created by the Bangla Academy for young writers to engage in reading and research. He urged the institution to focus more on comprehensive research initiatives.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Abul Kasem Fazlul Huq, President of the Bangla Academy. He called for support from the Interim Government to ensure the success of the book fair.
The event marked the beginning of the much-anticipated cultural festival, bringing together authors, readers, and literary enthusiasts from across the country.
