CA departs for Davos to attend WEF annual meeting

Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus has left Dhaka for a four-day official visit to Switzerland to participate in the World Economic Forum's annual meeting

Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus has embarked on a four-day official visit to Switzerland to attend the World Economic Forum's (WEF) annual meeting.

His flight departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 1am on Tuesday (21 January).

According to CA's Press Secretary Shafiul Alam, Dr Yunus and his delegation left for Davos aboard an Emirates Airlines flight.

During the visit, Dr Yunus is expected to engage in bilateral discussions with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, King Philippe of Belgium, and Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra.

He will also meet with Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum of the UAE, Christine Lagarde, President of the European Central Bank, Sir Nick Clegg, President of Global Affairs at Meta, Dr Agnes Callamard, Secretary-General of Amnesty International, and Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-General of the World Trade Organization.

A special session on Bangladesh will be held at the WEF, featuring global business leaders and chief executives from various international organisations.

Dr Yunus is scheduled to return to Dhaka on 25 January.
