The Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearance met with Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on Saturday to update him on the progress of investigations into the issue.
During the meeting, members of the commission urged the Chief Adviser to visit the 'Joint Interrogation Cell', widely referred to as the 'Aynaghar'.
They explained that such a visit would provide reassurance and a sense of safety to the victims of enforced disappearances. The commission also shared harrowing details of some cases under investigation, including the disappearance of a six-year-old child.
Responding to the commission’s request, the Chief Adviser expressed shock at the revelations and said, “The incidents that have come to light in your investigation are truly shocking. I will visit the Aynaghar soon.”
The meeting took place at the state guest house Jamuna at 5:30 pm on Sunday.
