BNP and like-minded political parties are preparing to launch a new programme to address the current political and economic challenges, said the 12-party coalition head Mustafa Jamal Hayder.
"We are soon to present a new programme," Hayder disclosed following a meeting with the BNP on Saturday (11 January).
"We have engaged in a two-hour-long discussion on the prevailing political scenario, various problems, and crises. The announcement of the new programme is expected within the next two to three days."
Hayder expressed concerns over the diminishing unity among the coalition members, particularly since the victory of 5 August.
"The spirit of the anti-fascist struggle of July and August seems to be waning," he remarked.
"There appears to be a rift in our unity, which we aim to resolve. Within the next two to three days, we will collectively announce the next programme, similar to our united stance during the July-August movement. We intend to provide clear explanations regarding the prevalent issues affecting public life, the scourge of rising prices, and the election-related ambiguities and misinformation."
During the same period, BNP leader Nazrul Islam Khan noted, "We have partially achieved our goals through the July-August movement. One remaining objective is the restoration of democracy. It is widely recognised that the restoration of democracy entails the establishment of democratic governance, which can only be realised through a national parliamentary election. We were awaiting this, but recently, various discussions have emerged about different types of elections. We believe that such discussions are not in alignment with the collective aspirations."
The coalition remains determined to tackle the current challenges and pursue their objective of restoring democratic governance.
