Five bodies have been recovered from a stationary ship in Chandpur’s Meghna River, though the cause of their deaths remains unknown at this time.
The grim discovery was reported shortly after 1pm on Monday (23 December), said Bangladesh Coast Guard’s Staff Officer (Dhaka Zone) Lieutenant Colonel Shams.
The vessel, identified as the MV Al-Bakhera, was found anchored when the incident came to light.
Members of the Coast Guard and police are en route to the location for further investigation.
