An application has been filed seeking a prohibition on the dissemination of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina’s alleged "hate speech" through media and social networking platforms.

The hearing on the plea is scheduled for Thursday (5 December) before the International Crimes Tribunal, chaired by Justice Golam Mortuza Mujumdar, said Prosecutor Abdullah Al Noman.

"The tribunal, under Justice Golam Mortuza Mujumdar’s leadership, will hear the application at 12pm," he said.

Earlier, on 17 October, the International Crimes Tribunal had issued an arrest warrant against Sheikh Hasina, who is also the president of the Awami League.

The tribunal simultaneously directed her to appear before it.

The arrest warrant was issued on the opening day of proceedings regarding the alleged genocide during the anti-discrimination student movement in July and August.
