Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain is scheduled to brief diplomats posted in Dhaka on allegations of religious minority persecution and the dissemination of related misinformation.

The briefing is to take place at the State Guest House Padma on Monday (2 December) in the afternoon.

Senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the development, stating that invitations were dispatched to all diplomatic missions in Dhaka on Sunday (1 December) evening.

Ambassadors, High Commissioners, Charges d’Affaires, or any other diplomatic representatives from missions have been invited to participate in the session.

However, representatives of international organisations and institutions have not been included this time.

The briefing will serve to formally inform diplomats about the government’s stance on religious minority issues and recent developments concerning ISKCON.

Specifically, allegations against ISKCON priest Chinmoy Krishna Das will be highlighted to the international community.

Foreign affairs adviser has consistently refuted claims in Indian and international media about alleged persecution of religious minorities, labelling such reports as misleading.

Government representatives, including senior officials, have described these reports as baseless and promised to provide documentary evidence supporting their position during the briefing.

Key issues to be addressed include allegations against Chinmoy Krishna Das and the violent altercation involving his followers at a court premises in Chattogram.

The altercation led to the killing of lawyer Saiful Islam.

Interim government will also highlight the nationwide peaceful protests following the incident, emphasising the absence of retaliatory attacks in response to the unrest.

This session represents the government’s proactive attempt to counter what it perceives as a coordinated campaign of misinformation and reassure the international community regarding the country’s commitment to religious harmony.
