India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh's recent instruction to the country's top military commanders to keep a close watch on the ongoing situation in Bangladesh is concerning, said Foreign Affairs Adviser Touhid Hossain.
"We are concerned about the Indian defence minister’s remarks. However, more than being concerned, I am surprised. Why would he make such a statement? I do not believe that our relationship with India warrants such a stance under any circumstances," he said during a briefing on Sunday (8 September).
The adviser's comments highlight a growing sense of unease about the remarks and their potential impact on the diplomatic rapport between the two neighbouring nations.
