Information and Broadcasting Adviser Md Nahid Islam has announced that legal action will be taken against those responsible for the vandalism at the Prothom Alo office.

Speaking at a press briefing on Monday evening at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka, Nahid Islam condemned the recent acts of vandalism and protests targeting media offices.

"The government does not support vandalism at media offices or any pressure to shut down newspapers. Such incidents will not be tolerated in the future," Nahid Islam stated.

The briefing was attended by Labour and Employment Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan, Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam, and Deputy Press Secretary Jahangir Alam Apurbo.

Nahid Islam addressed the growing unrest surrounding the Prothom Alo newspaper, saying, "For several days, we've seen tensions regarding the Prothom Alo. Yesterday, there were disturbances outside their office, and today their office in Rajshahi was vandalised. Protests also occurred in Chattogram and Brahmanbaria. While anyone with complaints or grievances against a media outlet has the right to express them, it must be done peacefully."

He also urged people to avoid participating in situations that could harm Bangladesh's image.
