Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has announced that the interim government will ask India to extradite deposed autocrat Sheikh Hasina. The statement came as Yunus addressed the nation on Sunday, marking the completion of 100 days of the interim government.

"We will ensure justice for every killing during the July-August uprising. We will also ask India to extradite deposed autocrat Sheikh Hasina," Yunus said during his address.

The Chief Adviser also reiterated the government's commitment to investigating and prosecuting all misconduct over the past 15 years, including the atrocities committed during the July-August period.

Highlighting the toll of the uprising, Yunus stated, “Around 1,500 people were killed, and 19,931 were injured. We have arranged treatment for the injured at 13 hospitals across Dhaka and other specialized facilities.”

He also assured the nation that the government would support the rehabilitation of the families of all martyrs and provide long-term care for the injured. “Every family will be taken care of. Not a single injured student, worker, or citizen will be excluded from treatment coverage. The government will bear all medical expenses,” he emphasized.

In a bid to support those severely affected, Yunus revealed plans to import corneas from Nepal for those blinded by bullets and to send critical cases abroad for advanced medical treatment.

The chief adviser also reaffirmed his commitment to conducting a fair and exemplary national election after essential reforms.

"I am promising you this. If you give us the chance, we will arrange your desired national election after conducting some essential reforms. Please keep patience until then," he said.

In his address, Yunus emphasised the government's determination to create a political environment that ensures sustainable democracy and prevents future political crises.

Yunus stated that the interim government was formed with the vision of creating a new environment in politics based on principles and aspirations for progress. He appealed to the nation, saying, "Do not deprive the country of fulfilling this desire."
