World-renowned Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli met with Professor Muhammad Yunus, chief adviser of Bangladesh’s interim government, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, on Wednesday (22 January).

During the meeting, Bocelli, celebrated for his extraordinary vocal talent despite being visually impaired, congratulated Professor Yunus on assuming the leadership of the interim government.

He expressed confidence that Yunus’s visionary leadership would usher in transformative progress for Bangladesh.

Bocelli’s team provided an overview of the work undertaken by the Andrea Bocelli Foundation, which has been instrumental in constructing schools in underprivileged regions and impoverished communities, including Haiti.

Professor Yunus, who serves on the advisory board of the Foundation, encouraged Bocelli to consider expanding its philanthropic endeavours to Asian nations, highlighting the pressing need for such initiatives in the region.

Lamiya Morshed, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) coordinator for Bangladesh, also attended the meeting and participated in discussions about collaborative opportunities to address global education challenges.
