BNP will not be able to survive as a political party unless the party learns from the mistakes it made, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said.

“If they [BNP] do not understand their mistakes, then they can not survive,” the minister said in response to questions from reporters before attending a community policing and anti-drug rally at Kurigram Government College grounds on Thursday (7 March).

“All their decisions come from abroad. They have now become a fragmented group. People have seen their destruction,” he added.

BNP does not care about the people, the home minister further said.

“They just want to come to power. In the 2008 elections, they got only 30 seats,” he added.

Regarding the role of foreigners in the last election, Asaduzzaman Khan said, “Many countries talk a lot. Everyone knows how democracy is practised in many countries. In some developed countries, 20-25% of votes are cast. We had 42% here. Even then, if someone says that the election was not fair, then we have nothing to say.”
