In Savar, workers from the 'Generation Next' garment factory have blocked the Nabinagar-Chandra highway, demanding payment of their outstanding wages. The protest began at around 9:30am on Monday (21 October), at the Bypail intersection of the highway.

The workers reported that they have not received their salaries or bonuses for the past three months. The factory management had announced an indefinite closure of the facility without settling these dues. While several meetings with the factory owners resulted in promises of payment, no action has been taken to pay the workers or reopen the factory.

Additionally, the staff members are owed salaries for four to five months. Following complaints to the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and the Ministry of Labour, assurances were made for salary disbursement, but the owners have not fulfilled these promises, nor has the factory resumed operations.

Sarwar Alam, superintendent of Police for Industrial Police-1, said, "We are aware of the highway blockade by the workers of Generation Next Limited. Some have not received wages for two months, while others have been waiting even longer. Discussions regarding this matter are ongoing."
