Azerbaijan's non-resident ambassador to Bangladesh, Elchin Huseynli, met with Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on Tuesday (22 October) at the State Guest House Jamuna in Dhaka.

The discussions covered a wide range of topics, including the upcoming COP-29 summit in Baku, energy, trade, business cooperation, and a proposed air services agreement between the two nations.

Professor Yunus is anticipated to participate in the COP-29 summit in Azerbaijan's capital, where at least 32,000 attendees are expected, with a primary focus on the pressing issue of climate finance.

During the meeting, Ambassador Huseynli emphasised the need for deeper trade relations between the two countries. He highlighted Baku's intent to explore "new opportunities" and to open doors for further business collaborations.

He also mentioned that a foreign office consultation between Azerbaijan and Bangladesh took place in Baku in June, and that Azerbaijan is keen to sign an air services agreement with Bangladesh.

Professor Yunus hailed Azerbaijan as "a good friend" and expressed a desire to strengthen business and trade ties. He also fondly recalled his longstanding relationships with the people of Azerbaijan, its leadership, and academic institutions.
