Five people were killed and nine others injured in a head-on collision between two buses in Mallikpur area of Kanaipur Union of Faridpur Sadar Upazila on the Dhaka-Khulna highway on Tuesday (15 October) morning.
Confirming the incident, Karimpur Highway Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Salauddin Chowdhury said that the identities of the victims could not be known immediately.
The injured were sent to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College Hospital in Faridpur, he said, adding that police were working to identify the victims.
The head-on collision took place between two buses – Jhenaidah-bound Jhenaidah Paribahan and Dhaka-bound Green Express - at around 4:00, said the police official.
Meanwhile, the two buses involved in the accident were seized and brought to the Karimpur Highway Police Station, he added.
