Firefighters successfully contained a blaze at the Sher-e-Bangla Medical College and Hospital in Barisal after nearly two hours of effort, with no reports of casualties thus far

A fire that broke out at the Sher-e-Bangla Medical College and Hospital in Barisal was brought under control after nearly two hours of intense effort by the Fire Service.

A total of nine units were deployed to combat the blaze, which was confirmed to have been extinguished by 11am on Sunday (13 October).

According to Mizanur Rahman, the deputy director of the Fire Service for Barisal Division, the alarm was raised at approximately 9:30am, prompting an immediate response. The fire originated in a ground-floor room of the hospital's medicine unit, necessitating the swift evacuation of patients to ensure their safety. 

At this time, there have been no reports of injuries or fatalities. The cause of the fire and the extent of the damages remain unclear, with investigations set to provide further clarity on these matters.
