The death toll from dengue fever in Bangladesh has risen to 201 this year, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). Two more deaths were reported in the 24 hours leading up to Friday morning.
During this same period, 490 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country. Of these, 121 were hospitalised in areas under Dhaka North City Corporation, and 104 in Dhaka South City Corporation.
Currently, 3,522 dengue patients are receiving treatment in various hospitals nationwide.
Since 1 January 2024, a total of 40,895 dengue cases have been reported in Bangladesh. Last year, the country witnessed its deadliest dengue outbreak on record, with 1,705 deaths and 321,179 cases reported.
