Bangladesh recorded $425 million in remittance inflows in the first five days of October, a $100 million increase from the same period last year, signalling a robust post-instability recovery

After overcoming recent instability, remittance inflows into the country have seen a promising upsurge.

In the first five days of this month, $425 million was sent to Bangladesh by expatriates, amounting to Tk5,099.61 crore (at an exchange rate of Tk120 per dollar), according to the latest report from Bangladesh Bank released on Sunday (6 October).

This represents an increase of $100 million compared to the same period last year, with an average daily inflow of $84.94 million.

A review of the central bank's data shows that $108.02 million was remitted through state-owned banks, $15.02 million via a specialised bank, $300.02 million through private banks, and $1.48 million through foreign banks.

In comparison, last month’s remittance totalled $2.4047 billion, equivalent to Tk28,856.40 crore at the same exchange rate.
